A patch of grass in the middle of railway tracks and in the heart of Gastown sounds a bit made up and highly unlikely. It is real though and worth visiting. It’s called Crab Park and has waterfront views.

If you take a walk through Gastown head to Alexander Street until you hit Main Street. Then go over and around the railway tracks and you’ll find it.
Make sure you bring your camera and remember at times it’s full of colorful characters.

The new Beaty Biodiversity Museum just opened up at UBC and will feature a ton of cool, must see exhibits.

They have an amazing 26 metre blue whale skeleton suspended in the middle of the Museum, if that doesn’t make you want to visit I don’t know what will.

The atmosphere is fun, exciting and really bright (thanks to all the massive windows). It is filled with knowledgeable volunteers and tons of information.

The Museum is a short walk from UBC bus loops and is worth the trip.

Trees Organic Coffee combines a European flare with a laid back attitude.
It’s located in Gastown just a few steps away from the steam clock.

They serve up their own 100% organic & fair trade coffee beans and have a selection of vegan treats, sandwiches and more.

There are 3 locations in Vancouver. I recently visited the Gastown location and it was great.

The White Fish Market is not a market-market, it’s more like a gourmet market with a lot of style.
It is located right beside the Vancouver Police Station, just a short walk from the Canada line (Olympic Village stop).
Inside you will find everything from fancy gift baskets, yummy sauces and the best chocolate.

People are always asking why it’s so hard to find a decent, cheap, dirty, mangy, fun, rustic, live music pub in the Kitsilano area?
Well, I think I found one! It used to be less populated and have more character, but it still has the cheap and fun part.
Just make sure you take it with a grain of salt and go after 9pm.

When you trip over a sign on a sidewalk and it leads you to a dingy, sweet, stay all night kinda basement pub. That has yummy snacks and beer, then you’ve hit the jackpot (or at least that what I think).

It’s really easy to enjoy The Narrow, the draft beers are around 5 dollars and the mac & cheese is unreal. The punky, laid back basement feel is what brings all the locals back

It’s open weekdays from 5pm – 1am, and Fri / Sat from 5pm – 2am

I know that everyone always says to go and visit Granville Island, and they are right!!
You really should go and visit, at least once. Live music, street performers, and fresh produce.

I’m driving down second narrows and I see this orange sign, that says i should stop in for a drink.
So, I go on a mission. Trying to find a place that isn’t marked very clearly.
I end up at the marina grill restaurant.
Where I relax on a patio, enjoy seafood and hang out in an interesting spot that overlooks a marina.

If you like bunnies then I’m going to let you in on a secret.
I know of a place, where there’s cute and wild bunnies hopping around.
They are hidden between Jericho beach and the Jericho Sailing Club.

It’s a neat thing to see.

Bunny Park
When you are facing the Jericho Sailing Club. Look to your right, take the (bike / walk) path and walk up a little hill incline.
On your right, there is the large shrub extension where there are some bushes.
The bunnies, they linger there.

When I go for my daily walks, I always wonder about those old railroad tracks that you see around Vancouver
The ones that have stop signs but for some odd reason I never stop at them.
Well they didn’t go to waste, people are using them for something.
Go for a walk and take a look!

They are being used as community gardens, check out the Vancouver’s community garden listings.
You can also check out some walking tours of the gardens.

I recently went to the Cypress Community Gardens, it was beautiful and quiet.

I started my walk around 6th ave & burrard street, which took me along the railroad tracks all the way to east blvd & 57th ave.
You don’t have to go that far, I was in an adventurous mood that day.

On a somewhat windy day, you should go buy a kite. Mine was only 5 bucks and no it didn’t break.
I decided to hit up Locarno Beach. Almost all the beaches connect in Vancouver take your pick.

Or cross the Burrard Bridge and head over to
Sunset Beach – English Bay – Second Beach – Third Beach
